SITE-SPECIFIC

Dances that take inspiration from the environment. Interest lies in drawing attention to place and discovering the local voice of the site. Notice the sounds, the smells, the materials and the habitants that reside.

We are all guests in nature’s dance studio - a convenient departure from traditional indoor studios.

It is a multi-faceted form that meets individuals in their present state and body. JAZZ

Vernacular Jazz has a long history rooted in Africa, particularly in the traditions of West African culture, in which music and dance are functional aspects of everyday life. Social elements of jazz dance include honoring community and individuality. Personal expression and improvisation lie at the heart of this form, filled with articulations of the torso, body part isolations, polyrhythms and a grounded stance.
